Dear Rebuilding Together Affiliate Leaders and Friends:

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our five winning HGTV Change the World. Start at Home cities:

Baltimore, MD

Denver, CO

New Orleans, LA

Twin Cities, MN

Washington, DC

These five Rebuilding Together affiliates won the online voting competition during which nearly 150,000 votes were cast! Each city and their projects was featured during HGTV’s coverage of the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day.  

Change the World. Start at Home is a new community revitalization and environmental cause effort launched by HGTV in partnership with Rebuilding Together, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Natural Resources Defense Council. The campaign will focus on revitalizing communities across the country and helping consumers make smart choices for the environment within their homes and daily lives.  

During the inaugural Change the World week, beginning April 28, 2008, the projects in each of the winning Rebuilding Together markets will be completed through the help of volunteers and HGTV partners.  One project in each community will focus on environmentally-friendly improvements while another will have a historical focus to help preserve the fabric of the community.

Thank you to all of the affiliates who participated in the competition.  The voting was extremely close.  We greatly appreciate the effort our affiliates in Atlanta, Boston, Long Island, Portland and San Francisco put forth.
