American Petroleum Institute

American Petroleum Institute (API)
The American Petroleum Institute has partnered with Rebuilding Together to create the Energy Efficient Homes Initiative, and is the founding sponsor of Rebuilding Together’s Energy Efficiency Program.  Since 2006, API has helped Rebuilding Together affiliates provide energy efficient repairs to low-income homeowners across the United States.
In addition to sponsoring energy efficiency demonstration projects in communities across the U.S., the Initiative also extends to the nearly 10,000 homes that Rebuilding Together affiliates rehabilitate each year thanks to their affiliate network and volunteers nationwide. API’s sponsorship helps train our affiliates to include energy efficiency as a core component of their home renovation projects.  Rebuilding Together and API are also distributing efficiency information, consumer tips and checklists to low-income homeowners, volunteers and others nationwide.

Through API’s partnership with Rebuilding Together, the Energy Efficient Homes Initiative will:
•   Ensure energy efficient measures are included in the nearly 10,000 homes that Rebuilding Together local affiliates will renovate and revitalize in over 1,800 cities and towns across the country.
•   Provide thousands of homeowners with materials and information to help them use energy wisely.
•   Distribute energy efficiency information and tips to volunteers and other participants nationwide, and conduct outreach and education programs geared to increasing energy efficiency with low-income homeowners and others.
•   Reduce energy use in these homes by as much as 30 percent.
•   Save these low-income homeowners money both in the near term and for years to come.

The American Petroleum Institute is the primary trade association for the oil and natural gas industry in the United States.  Representing one of the most technologically advanced industries in the world, API’s membership includes more than 400 companies engaged in all aspects of the oil and natural gas industry, including the exploration, production, refining, transportation and marketing of crude oil, natural gas and related consumer products.  For more information on API, please visit www.api.org.  Visit http://www.energytomorrow.org/index.html for more information about the oil and gas industry.
