National Initiatives
National Rebuilding Day
Rebuilding Together is known for our annual signature event, National Rebuilding Day. This event occurs on the last Saturday of April and is the culmination of a year of planning, evaluating, training, organizing, and assembling the largest nationwide group of volunteers, from all walks of life, to repair and restore houses and non-profit facilities, revitalize entire communities, and make a lasting impression on those families and individuals who are helped.
Safe and Healthy Homes
Rebuilding Together’s Safe & Healthy Homes Initiative responds to the great needs of our nation’s elderly and disabled homeowners and their wish to live in safe, warm and dry homes with dignity and independence. This initiative specializes in educational training; provides technical assistance to Rebuilding Together’s national affiliate network; collects and disseminates the best practices for conducting home repair projects; writes, produces, and disseminates material on home safety and energy efficiency; and serves as an informational resource for affiliates and the public at large.
Disaster Recovery & Reconstruction
Rebuilding Together's Disaster Recovery & Reconstruction initiative serves to rebuild the houses of low-income homeowners and the capacity of our affiliate network in times of disaster. Initially created as a response to hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the fall of 2005, Disaster Recovery and Reconstruction maintains a strong commitment to the Gulf Coast and has pledged to Rebuild 1000 homes.
Veterans Housing
Rebuilding Together’s Veterans Housing Initiative was created to meet the growing needs of veterans from past and present wars. The initiative serves to fill the gaps in housing modifications and repair services that retired and active service men and women struggle to meet. Working in partnership with corporate sponsors, Rebuilding Together’s Veterans Housing Initiative strives to provide safe and accessible housing for all low-income veterans.
