Our Focus
Rebuilding Together fills a pressing need in our communities. It is the only national nonprofit working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize neighborhoods, by providing free home repairs to homeowners in-need. The increasing cost of living and decreasing social service budgets, leave our most vulnerable neighbors without the most basic of necessities: a warm, safe, and dry home.
The homeowners that Rebuilding Together serves, the majority of which are living at or below the federal poverty line, are especially affected disproportionately by the economic landscape. Homeownership is at an all time high, while the costs of owning and maintaining a home continue to grow. Healthcare and other basic neccessity costs are skyrocketing, leaving low-income citizens with less disposable income for home repairs and modifications. These coerced sacrifices often leave families in unstable and unlivable home conditions, which adversely affect their health, home assets and the growth of the community.
Rebuilding Together focuses on a variety of community-centric programs which address the issues of homeownership costs, elderly-at-risk, the disabled, families with children, healthcare, and the rising federal deficit. By identifying the challenges associated with these issues Rebuilding Together is positioned to face a problem with full understanding and to create real, sustainable solutions for low-income homeowners and communities.
