Melissa Flynn

Melissa Flynn is the Vice President of Affiliate Relations. Her 13-year career with Rebuilding Together began at the Arlington/Fairfax, Virginia Affiliate, where Melissa was Director of Volunteers Services.  In 1998, Melissa became the first Executive Director of the Montgomery County, Maryland Affiliate where she served for 9 years before joining the National Office in 2007.

As a nonprofit management consultant, Melissa has created and conducted workshops on board building, strategic planning, and fundraising for many Washington, DC area organizations. She served as a board member and chairperson of the government relations committee for GROWS (Grass Roots Organization for the Well-being of Seniors). Additionally, she was appointed by the Montgomery County Executive’s Office to serve as a member of the board of directors for the Community Action Agency, which focuses on poverty related issues. Melissa continues to volunteer for Relay-for-Life in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Prior to joining the Rebuilding Together network, Melissa worked for the Open Door Runaway Shelter in Montgomery County, Maryland. She was able to utilize the education and training she received in the Social Work Studies program at Lock Haven University (BSW) to provide individual and group counseling to homeless and at-risk-youth.
