A statement from Gary A. Officer, President & CEO Rebuilding Together with regards to Haiti

Article type: News

Dear Rebuilding Together Supporters,

As President and CEO of Rebuilding Together, I would like to express great sadness for the loss of life and the tremendous amount of damage caused by the earthquake that recently struck Haiti.

It is estimated that up to 3 million people may have been directly affected by the earthquake's damage, and many more around the world have felt its impact through the loss of family members and loved ones.

As an organization working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities in the United States, we know how important it is to come together and support those in need.  While expressing our heartfelt thoughts and condolences, we encourage everyone to support those organizations who are working diligently to provide first response and critical life-saving needs in Haiti.

Additionally, Rebuilding Together will be gathering with members of the Haitian community in Miami to show our support during these difficult times.  The Miami community is home to many families with connections and loved ones in Haiti.  In the coming weeks Miami will also be host to the NFL Super Bowl and Rebuilding Together's annual NFL-sanctioned community revitalization project.  We will take this opportunity to not only rebuild the local Miami community, but also bring attention to the broader global need.

On behalf of the Rebuilding Together Affiliate Network, our Corporate Partners and our thousands of volunteers and supporters, our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Haiti who are experiencing a great loss.
