Rebuilding Together Participates in United We Serve

Article type: News

Rebuilding Together answered President Obama's and the Corporation for National and Community Service's call to service by embracing the United We Serve day of Service and Remembrance.

Our affiliates implemented an energy efficiency outreach project sharing consumer-focused energy resources with 50,000 low-income family members in the 19 states where CapacityCorps members are serving.

The day also included major home rehabilitation projects around the country, highlighted by two metro D.C. mega-projects bringing together hundreds of volunteers to rebuild.

Special thanks to Maryland Lt. Governor Anthony Brown, Congressman Chris Van Hollen, and Ron Sims, Deputy Director of HUD, for their attendance at the Maryland and DC projects, joining the many other state and local officials who participated on this great day.

We want to thank our sponsors whose support made this amazing day of service possible.  Thank you to presenting sponsors Choice Hotels International and ConocoPhillips and supporting sponsors AARP, the Alliance to Save Energy, Cricket Communications, Safeway Foundation and Sears Holdings.
