On July 9, Rebuilding Together Valley of the Sun partnered with the MLB All-Star Game, the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the Bank of America to rehabilitate a local veteran services facility in Phoenix, Ariz.
Extensive renovations were made to the Arizona State Veteran Home (ASVH). The Arizona State Veteran Home is a 200-bed Medicare certified skilled nursing facility, and is a state-owned-and-operated facility located adjacent to the Veterans Administration Medical Center. ASVH serves the long-term care and rehabilitative needs of the veterans of Arizona.
Approximately 75 volunteers from Bank of America, Rebuilding Together and the MLB Community donated their time, skill and effort to improve the veteran facility that provides essential services to the community, totaling a reach of over 500 people impacted by the project. The estimated market value is approximately $200,000 for the center, which will continue to operate with more efficiency and resources at its disposal.
This is the second year that Rebuilding Together and the MLB have united to perform a service project before the MLB All-Star Game, to ensure they leave a legacy long after the game has ended in the community in which it is played.
